It takes a certain kind of person to be a Car Salesman. Selling Cars is an art. So, as a car buyer, you need to be prepared not to jump through their hoops and land in an unhappy situation.
Some warning signs that you are being circled by sharks and how you might want to react:

Salesman repeatedly insists on going to the manager’s office to check and see if he can make you a special deal or haggle with the boss to get you the best price on a car.
You should let him know that you are not there to play games, and you want to speak with another salesman, or maybe the boss himself. You want the best deal and don’t want to be left unprotected with this vulture trying to bid or haggle your way down to an acceptable price. Also, you may choose to quietly leave as you explain to the salesman that you need more time. Then run like hell.

Salesman does not reveal what your actual trade in value is. Instead, he will tell you that you can get that beautiful car you’ve got your eye on for X amount of dollars if you just trade in your current car. What he actually means is he is making markup twice on one transaction!
You should know how much your trade in is worth BEFORE you set foot into the buying floor or car lot. If you prefer, you can first go to the car dealership and request an estimate on your car’s trade in value without even hinting on what car you want to buy. This is one way to fight back and prove that you know what you are doing. You may decide to sell your car using another method and have the cash in hand for the purchase of your new car.

Salesman is trying to convince you to upgrade a feature on your new car. He tries to be smooth by explaining that it will only add up to a couple of dollars per day on the price tag.
You should try to get those extras all included in your deal without adding any dollars or cents to the price tag. With interest, these few dollars will cost you thousands in the long run. Do not fall for this without asking what the total price including interest will be for these extra bells and whistles. If you’re comfortable after finding out the cost, well, it’s your money.

Salesman is pushy and insistent that you make the purchase NOW so that you can be a part of the special Bargain Bonanza Special that ends today. He’s only trying to help.
You should know this is nothing more than hype and it’s called QUOTA. Rest assured, the sales price will be available at a later time. They do not want to lose you as a customer. Bottom line here is to take your time and shop around. Don’t fall under pressure.
Buying a new or used car should be a pleasurable experience, but you will have to do a little fancy footwork to get through the sales procedure. You can always take somebody with you for the car salesman encounter if you are feeling a little uneasy. Be sure to go over your preferences and notes with your guest before you leave the house.
