New DNA Testing Narrows Down Different Types of Human Papillomavirus HPV
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just approved DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) testing that will pinpoint two specific types of the dreaded HPV that leads to cancer in the cervix.
The new test is called Cervista and it works by identifying the two deadly strains number sixteen and eighteen. Testing will allow medical professionals a greater advantage in dealing with this killer disease that kills thousands of women each year.
Specifically, it’s able to show if there are both or just one of the deadly strains most common in HPV cervical cancer.
HPV .. Human Papillomavirus is the number one infection spread through sexual contact in the United States. It’s spreading like wildfire. Close to seven million (NEW CASES) of American sexually active adults per year become familiar with HPV infection on their genitalia.
It’s believed that almost two out of three sexually active Americans will be infected with HPV at some point during in their adulthood at the rate this disease is taking over! HPV ain’t no joke, folks. It killed my aunt, and it broke my heart.
